2. The topic i chose to pick was corporations. It always interests me to find out what large corporations are doing with their money.
- Some large corporations in the 80's and 70's convinced their governments in to creating better environments for them to grow.
- In some cases, large corporations had hired the countries military to injure and even kill protestors opposing them.
- As globalization increases, so do criticisms of corporations.
- Criticisms are usually about more than one different thing.
- Sometimes they are about violating human rights.
- Sometimes they are about large sales tax avoidance.
- Many corporations encourage what are called export processing zones.
- These are usually in third world countries where workers rights are usually reduced.
- Despite many corporations signing up for human rights pacts, their lack of commitment is obvious.
- Many people think that corporations will eliminate the need for a government, this is not true.
2b. I can definitely see this becoming my exit project. It interests me very much when I'm learning a.bout corruption in large corporations.
2c. I'm wondering how many evil things the McDonalds corporation has done.
Topic 2: The topic i chose was Human Population. I always wonder about the Human Population and how it got to be so large.
- The human population on Earth is over 6 billion.
- The population is too high.
- Although the population is too high, it may not be a source of bad things.
- Bad things are caused by how we choose to live.
- Such as how we waste our water resources.
- Some say that because of over population, food is scarce.
- 20% of the worlds people in the highest income countries account for 86% of total private consumption.
- 20% of the poorest people are accountable for only 1.3%.
- An article in 1999 said that the global economy could be seriously affected by environmental problems.
- Most poverty is caused by food being too expensive.
I can not see this becoming my exit project. There wasn't enough information.I still wonder what techniques are being used to control the population.
